About Jim
Born and raised in Alabama, my love of the outdoors and growing things was apparent at an early age. I was always working and playing in the outdoors.
My career in the green industry began in the early 1980’s with a 3rd generation family owned landscape construction firm in Tuscaloosa Alabama. This is where I discovered I had a real interest in the landscape and nursery business.
After attending the University of Alabama and Lurleen Wallace College where I earned an Associate’s Degree in Forestry, I took a job with Gulf States Paper Company. There I worked in the timber division of the company surveying company owned timber lands.
In 1987 I was recruited for a job as operations manager/salesman at Barton’s Nursery and Landscape Company. This is where I had the opportunity to learn the landscape construction business and tree and landscape management from one of the most respected companies in the industry. For the next 12 years my experience and knowledge grew enormously.
In 1999 I was recruited by a landscape firm in Palm Harbor, Florida, so with my wife and two young children, we made the move from Alabama to Florida. Always feeling there was a better way to provide landscape services, we decided in 2005 to open Pine Hills Landscaping, Inc.
Through growing and developing Pine Hills Landscaping, Inc., my knowledge and passion for arboriculture has flourished. This is how Jim Yelverton Consulting Arborist was launched and now is my primary focus. In 2016 I earned the highest International Society of Arboriculture’s certification of Master Arborist.
Always staying up to date with the industry, I pride myself on having knowledge of the most recent research and science. I am pleased to provide you with the most current information about your tree needs.
